According to WKYC Channel 3 the servers have crashed twice tonight and they showed real time of the workers standing around because they hadn't gotten it back up yet.

CLEVELAND -- Several mayor races and school levies were being decided Tuesday across northeast Ohio, but not a lot of people seemed concerned.

The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections said 5 percent of registered voters cast ballots.

It will take a while longer to count those votes.

Officials at the BOE had to stop counting ballots at about 11 p.m. All the voting machines went down while downloading memory cards.

The server first crashed at about 9 p.m. for 10 minutes and then it started again.

After going down for the second time, a Diebold technician was called in to to take a look at the problem.

Machines will be taken down every 45 minutes for the BOE to be able to save the information from all the cards.

Beyond the vote count, there is an additional result of the election:

Councilman Fittzgerald will become, in a few short months, Mayor Fitzgerald. This will leave his council seat empty, to be filled by the newly elected council.

Any thoughts on who should be appointed to fill the Mayor-elect's former council seat?

Jeff

Council and I think the new mayor will make the appointment.

They should fill it with Demro.
