Move in questions

Postby J Hrlec » Tue May 29, 2007 9:01 pm

I am going to be moving in soon to my new house and was curious exactly who to call in the city for water and garbage?

Hi J,
I can only speak for myself, but there's no need to call for garbage, they just show up every week on your garbage day. You can e-mail the refuse dept from the city website if you need to know what day that is. They're very friendly.

As for water, again, they just began billing me when I took possession. The previous owner is supposed to contact the city for a final reading and a switch to you.

There was a pretty map on the city web site that gives the day of the week for refuse & recycling pick-up (http://www.ci.lakewood.oh.us/pdf/2006_R ... ionMap.pdf)

J

Just remember to take recycling (blue bagged) and yard waste to your tree lawn on the night before.....As well as all the stuff from the move.

Regarding water, the city should have conducted a point of sale inspection of your main water line., so, they should know new folks are moving in. However, a simple phone call to get your name on the address may be a good idea.
