This is Lakewood?
I was looking at a book...
...by this guy.
He surprised me with this fun fact.
This map shows the west end of Lakewood. Notice the little "hangnail" of property that touches Wooster Road.
This map from Google shows it better.
If you drive north on Wooster from Center Ridge to Hilliard, by the concrete wall, you drive through a portion of Lakewood. The border is the center of the street.
The maps show that Lakewood extends to the west of the river in a number of places, including the Lakewood Dog Park.

Nothin' shakin' on Shakedown Street.
Used to be the heart of town.
Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart.
You just gotta poke around.

Re: This is Lakewood?
So, what useful purpose could this property serve?
This space could be a Lakewood revenue generator right in Rocky River territory.
So, what's it going to be used for? Digital signage advertising Lakewood? A Lakewood speed trap? A toll booth? A sidewalk sale for Lakewood versus Rocky River swag? Colorful wall paintings? A glass-floored overhang of the canyon to exploit the tourism angle? A zip line down to Memorial Field?
Share your ideas.

Maybe they can find a developer to hang retail and housing units down the cliff. What views!

If Stan hadn't already made an offer of 43% more than we got for Lakewood Hospital property, I would say call those two screw heads that were going to develop condos on that thin strip of grass in the lagoons! Remember that? They didn't even own the property and they were going to drop condos along the river.Hoping no one would notice. I keep forgetting what were their names. I guess they were just crazy for any development if it didn't effect them directly. Damn, what were their names?

Are you talking Foran’s Folly on Sloan?
Took down two property tax paying houses on Sloan and the lots are still sitting empty. The developer thought he was getting city and state money - I don’t think he had much of his own to invest. And, as you noted, he need a right of way through Metroparks’ property that he either didn’t know about or considered
Ah, the good old days.

Stan
Be careful, I knew some really bad businesses people, basically all they had ever done was sell off family businesses and/or government grants. They tried a deal like that. They got burned bad, it seems there was a river under their property that everyone knew, but they never told the tenets, and assumed clean-up cost. Next thing you know took forever to do a 1 week job, tearing it down, and losing a ton in the clean-up.
Now Stan, I am not comparing you with them, this people were real fools especially with other people's money.
But, they did have a lot of awards, that they had given each other for decades.

Somebody asked me about who mows the grass.
I don't know.
Maybe we should plant wildflowers.
