Carpet Installation
I'm looking for someone to install carpet in a rental. Does anyone have any recommendations? The guy that was doing it for me in the past has moved.

Do they use their own installers? I have a ton of remnant carpet I want to install in our upstairs but don't know of any good installers. Does this place do installing if you don't buy the carpet?
On a side note, anyone ever shop at that carpet place across from the Madison Theater on Hillard? I live around the corner from it and never see a customer yet it is always open. Kind of creepy.

I do...he's installed carpeting in my basement, living room, and 3 bedrooms. His name is Dany (pronouced Danny) and is Hungarian (if I remember correctly). He does all his installations with an occasional helper. I highly recommend him. He installs early...then is in his shop the other half of the day. He also accepts payments with no interest

Found a winner! Since they can simply walk to my house from his shop, even better. I will try them out and see if they will install without having sold the carpeting.
Thanks, all!

Local guy makes good... I went with Dany. He was great! A real charmer, too. I think he said he is from area around Yugoslavia and Croatia but noted that when he was there, it was all one country but not is 8 different states. Anyway, he wasn't cheapest (though not far off) but the work was fantastic and surprisingly quick (especially for number of stairs). Actually he may have been cheaper than some in the long run because many local installers charge per step above and beyond other costs and he did not.
Again, thanks for the recommendation. As he said when he left, "Now you one of my salesmen, yes?"

I'm glad to hear you were satisfied....I guess I'm one of his saleswomen!! He doesn't do any advertising like the *big* guys so he relies on word of mouth referrals. Did you tell him who referred you??
He's a good guy. I had a large paint spill on my basement berber carpet and he cut out the damaged area and replaced with a spare piece. You can't even tell where it was cut...he matched it up perfect...and he didn't charge me! Of course he's pretty much carpeted all our rooms, so he's certainly fair.

I didn't mention you by name, sadly, but I walk by his place all the time and will let him know when I see him next! Yah, he named the "any repairs for free" offer as he was leaving this past weekend. And his seam work was excellent here, too. We were using odd shaped remnants and the already present seams you could kind of see (from the previous home) but how he made them work with each other is almost invisible. Fantastic!
