Observers,
Vedda Printing pulled construction permits late yesterday afternoon for its estimated $1,250,000 project on Berea Rd.
The Vedda site on Berea Rd. site has been vacant for over 70 years.
Relocation of Vedda Printing to the Berea Rd. site will allow for further expansion of surrounding businesses near Vedda's current site on Detroit at Hird (W.118).
This news follows the ground breaking on Thursday of the new $10.5 million YMCA on Detroit Ave.
Both projects utilized significant city assistance.
Special thanks to all involved.
A great deal of appreciation goes to our Law Dept. and Planning Dept. who make it all seem so simple, when in fact these City assistance packages are extraordinarily complex and the result of extensive negotiations.
Both projects will also benefit from our Economic Development Stimulus Package, recently proposed by the Administration and passed by Council.
Just two steps forward in our comprehensive strategy to strengthen our quality of life, strengthen our housing and build our tax base.
It's Lakewood's Time!

Mayor George
Thanks for stopping by. We will have the first part of the YMCA story up this afternoon with a bunch of photos from the ground breaking.
The one thing that everyone was saying at the Y groundbreaking is "These are great days for Lakewood."
The Vedda news, Sweet Designs opening, Pier W's $3.5 million dollar renovation, Rockport and other developments prove that Lakewood is alive!
Thanks for the note, and the good work.

Great to hear!
Given the state of the state and regional economy, these projects are especially impressive.
Now let's get some more!
