"Experts Sketch Gloomy Picture of Virus Spread"

"Dr. Anthony s. Fauci told Congress on Tuesday that he was seeing a 'disturbing surge' of infections in some parts of the country, as Americans ignore social distancing guidelines and states reopen without adequate plans for testing and tracing the contacts of those who get sick". Apparently the EU (European Union) will limit entry of US citizens. Kinda like your friends parents won't let you come over and play because you're dirty

NY, NJ and CT also are now limiting travel, at least by way of an extended quarantine, for travelers from certain states that have failed to reverse Covid-19 infections.

It is not my goal to cover the spread of Covid-19 in this thread. Mr. O'Bryan and others here have done an excellent job on the scope and complexity of that difficult topic.

The fact that the City of Cleveland has also expanded outdoor/patio dining should not be a rationale for Lakewood doing so.

My points are simple:

1. Municipal public property should not be used in any manner that has the potential to exacerbate disease contagion during a pandemic of this magnitude.

2. Municipal representatives (Council-Members) should not publicly represent that expanded outdoor/patio dining is "safe" to the media without valid scientific or medical evidence.

3. If such evidence exists, it must be made public as soon as possible.

4. Until then, the legislation that expanded outdoor dining should be promptly repealed in the interest of public safety.

On the City of Lakewood's website you will find information at this link:

http://www.onelakewood.com/covid-19-upd ... the-state/

Quoting from the statement on the City's website:

"Dr. Amy Edwards, a pediatric infectious disease doctor and associate medical director for infection control at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, today provided information on an increase in the percentage of children testing positive for COVID-19 at Rainbow Babies. Dr. Edwards said that hospital admissions for COVID-19 in children at Rainbow Babies have also increased. Symptoms of COVID-19 in kids are similar to symptoms in adults. If your child seems to be having trouble breathing or is not eating or drinking, Dr. Edwards recommends calling your pediatrician to get your child tested."

Since the expanded outdoor/patio dining legislation was passed, the information with regard to Covid-19 has changed significantly. This alone seems to mandate that the City of Lakewood re-evaluate it decision to make its sidewalks available for expanded bar/restaurant services.

Some Late Breaking News!

https://www.cleveland.com/community/202 ... ating.html

I am simply dismayed.

Double-down on the risks of contagion, illness, medical expense and legal liability all in the name of a fantasy Lakewood created by the Summers' PR teams.

I was both embarrassed and ashamed to read this.
