First Look At LPL's "NEW" Madison Branch

Postby Jim O'Bryan » Thu Jan 16, 2020 9:29 am

Underlining Lakewood Ohio's commitment to education, learning and providing top notch resources to the residents, Lakewood Public Library announces the renovations to the Madison Branch of LPL. Many people forget about the historic Madison Branch, but those in the neighborhood not only love it but have come to count on it, Of course most of the community loves and depends on the Lakewood Public Library.

So let's look at the mechanical drawings.

It looks exactly like the main library should look like but doesn't. Our main library really has a "utilitarian" feel to it and just does not feel welcoming or friendly, especially when you come in the Detroit Ave entrance. From the outside it looks fine but inside just (again, to me) doesn't have a comfy library feel. I much prefer Rocky River, though certainly much smaller, than the Lakewood main library.

The design for Madison looks very nice and hope at least some of that can be incorporated in the future with the main library.

I vote for cork flooring and more traditional sinks. Those vessel sinks are already out-dated.

The city informed me that the "church" was going. I don't see that in the plans.
Anyone?
