Well I do thank them for being transparent in how they are spending the millions that we accumulated and saved to keep Lakewood Hospital open, solvent and serving the health of the community for the next 50 years.

.

Know this, Three Arches Foundation is not a charitable organization it is the personal play ground of the Board members and a source of funds for the Cleveland Clinic.

The Master Agreement transferred the $35 million in the Hospital Foundation to a private Foundation. The people of Lakewood have no control over that Foundation, Lakewood City government has no control over that Foundation. It is a completely independent private Foundation controlled by the Board. The Board appointed itself, the Board will reappoint itself and the Board will appoint its replacement. Think of the Board as "family" operation. You don't get a piece of the action unless you are part of the "family".

When is the inaugural Three Arches Celebratory Gala. Let's recognize those on the board who worked so hard to give... ... ...away others' charitable money!

Keeping it simple here.

No matter how much the employees of Lakewood Alive love their jobs, no one should expect them to do that job without health insurance. This is a simple matter of fairness and dignity of labor.

If as a city we are going to rely upon Lakewood Alive to support a wide variety of laudable public initiatives to benefit the city, then as a city we need to ensure that Lakewood Alive has sufficient funding to execute its mission in a way that is equitable and fair to its employees.

The city just dumped $7,000,000 into Mr. Fitzgerald's vanity project in 2018/2019 I'm sure no one at his client is going without health insurance.

See my point. Simple.

Keeping It Simple Here II.

Over the past 5 years we have all witnessed the reorganization, liquidation, and demolition of Lakewood Hospital releasing tens-upon-tens of millions of dollars of public assets, revenues, and real estate into private hands.

So how is it that we are now learning that Lakewood Alive is so underfunded that it cannot provide health insurance to its employees?

Job One for the incoming City Administration will be to ensure that this non-profit has a strong and adequate funding base for the execution of its mission, but more importantly that its employees have adequate health insurance as they pursue their mission.

If the city is relying upon Lakewood Alive to implement programs that are beneficial to the city and its residents; then it needs to commit to a relationship model that provides an adequate and stable financial foundation for the mission.

Obviously, the city administration has the funds to do this. We know that over the summer they were focused on funding some sort of a new "wellness" foundation with several millions dollars.
