Lucky Man's Accident Closes Closed Lake Road

Postby Jim O'Bryan » Mon Nov 18, 2019 9:24 pm

At around 8:20pm neighbors heard a large bang, followed by a thud.
A text came in something on Lake Road. I was out driving home, so stopped by on Lake and Edwards.
It was not a pretty scene, but it was a damn lucky scene.

It seems that a person driving West on a closed section of Lake Road, ran into the back of a large crane.

Image
"Driver trapped in car, and it is smoking." crackled the police radio as Lakewood Police and Fire arrived.

Image
Police and Fire remove the driver onto a stretcher.

Off to the hospital.

How is this story about a lucky man?

Image
The car was totaled. Passenger side of the car crushed. But there was no passenger.

Image
Driver's compartment fared much better. Overheard the description of "minor injuries, driver should be fine."
A couple more inches to the right, driver could have been dead at the scene.

Image
No signs of the driver ever applying his breaks. The car hit and bounced back across the street.

Good work Lakewood Fire and Police!

While the bumper looks untouched, the right front wheel was ripped off as the car went under the bumper.

Now, look at the dents on the roof, and in the back, and explain how they happened.
