Alternate Views on Detroit Development

Every proposal for development is not a good one. Does Lakewood need any more rental space? What will these big projects do to change the city's character? Could at least one of these sites be geared toward housing for people who want to downsize, which would free up potential single-family homes in a tight market?

I urge Lakewood to stop, take a deep breath and, where appropriate, say no to this proposal at this location as proposed. Consider your community goals and insist on something that contributes to community stability for the long haul and is complementary in design and configuration to the existing architectural character.

this feels like the last bubble.
so...the financing will probably dry up on a lot of prospective projects before they start.

Yes, that’s happened before.

Remember the “Cliffs” on Sloane next to the Harborview? Where the empty lots still sit?

I got it! How about mini storage complex, there is an acute shortage of these in Lakewood. Once completed, it will be followed by a new series of Storage Wars! The film crew and actors can stay at one of the two five star hotels in Lakewood bringing in outside revenue prosperity to the city's hospitality industry. The spin off will be the national attention that the City Lakewood deserves as the mecca of Democrats city management. Just a thought, but I could be wrong.
