City Government “Monitoring” Social Media

Postby Bridget Conant » Wed Jan 09, 2019 7:05 pm

The mayor has a “Blogspot” where he recently posted his thoughts about social media and City Hall. Perhaps he should leave that to a professional communications director or, better yet, a “crisis communications” firm.

He posts such gems as:

In Lakewood City Hall, increasing efforts are being made to monitor conversations

And

City Hall managers—some more than others—keep a wary eye on some discussions.

And my personal favorite - let’s guess who?

One public information officer spends a significant part of her time following and ensuring effective responses to social media posts.

Then at the end he takes great pains to claim the city employees are making posts as private citizens, not as employees or as “official” statements.

Cannot believe he publicly posted this stuff. Our mayor is so much like Trump it’s scary.

It's what he does.
He monitors. He takes names. He keeps score.
He doesn't lead. He doesn't bring us together. He doesn't make us better. He just keeps score.
It's Us and Them and Those People. His Lakewood. His vision. His twisted calculus.
Rancor and divisiveness … his legacy.
Hey Mike Summers, monitor this.
You're an abject failure and you've poisoned this community.

I noted the opportunity for comments. Has anybody tried?
If they do, they should copy them here "just in case."

The worst Mayor in Lakewood's History, is quickly becoming the most despicable.

City Hall has fought for three years to hide facts about the biggest failure of any Administration. Spending thousands of hours fighting the residents right to know FACTS.

Summers administration misleads, lies, intimidates and when that doesn't work, they start another website "not part of the city."

Why? Well they are certainly hiding and lying about something...

Image
From 2016. We are still waiting for the documents they are hiding. This graphic got the LO banned at City Hall, 2 days after being published in 2016.

Thanks anyway, I will find the facts from public documents, that we have to win in court to get and then, think for myself.

is "ShittyMcShitFace" really monitoring discussion? The thinly veiled threat is chilling in its overt overtones.

Doesn’t look like he’s getting a positive response.

Really, it never dawned on him that “monitoring” social media of residents sounded rather ominous?

Problem is, Summers is exactly like Trump. He puts his foot in his mouth a lot, AND no one can tell him what to do - he knows best.

I urge everyone to read the City Of Lakewood Oh Municipal Government Facebook page.

The article by Summers is being questioned and he’s got his attack dogs Pae and Wagner on the case!

Notice who is the most snarky and hateful!

To hell with their monitoring. What they really need to know is we are monitoring (or observing) them, our employees.
