Police Catch 2 Stealing Off Porches Look To Return Goods
On Saturday December 15th, 2018, the Lakewood Police Department arrested two males for stealing packages off of front porches in Lakewood. A resident was notified by his delivery service that a package had been left on his front porch. Upon checking for his package he found it missing. The resident checked his security system and observed a male come on to his porch, take the package and return to a Ford Explorer with a temporary tag. The Lakewood Police Department had another report earlier with the same male taking a package off of a Lark St. home and striking a parked car with the Explorer while leaving.
At 3:20PM Lakewood Police Officers stopped the Ford Explorer at Clifton and Summit Ave. in investigation of these thefts. Located in the van were dozens of new items and packages. Arrested were Deangelo Latham, 18yrs of Bedford and Keontay Jones, 19yrs from Cleveland.
Both males were charged with 4 counts of theft in Lakewood Municipal Court.
A total of seven thefts from front porches were identified and cleared through the investigation. The Lakewood Police Department is in possession of dozen of new items without identifying information of the intended recipient. If anyone can identify any of these items as missing from their homes and provide proof of the order please contact the Lakewood Police Department at 216-529-6763.
Leads that were developed leading to the identification and arrest of these two males were the result of Lakewood Citizens being alert to suspicious activity in their neighborhood and reporting it immediately to the Lakewood Police Department.
Good work Lakewood Police!

Municipal Judge Patrick Carroll sentenced these two to 30 days in Jail, and a 1-year probation, with another 1 year in jail if they break probation for all 4 counts. The police have a warrant out and still seeking at least one other individual who was calling in locations.
