A pedestrian was hit early this morning on the Railroad tracks closing down, Cranford and Hall while they investigate and clear the tracks.

As 6:30am only Cranford was still closed and is expected to remain closed for the morning. Drivers should avoid the area.

Thoughts and prayers to the victim, family and all involved.

The male was identified as Gabriel N. Lopez a 29 yr old Cleveland area resident.

The railroad crew report the male was seen laying on the tracks, between the rails as they approached traveling eastbound.

The male did not move and was struck by the train.

The investigation is continuing and we are awaiting a ruling on the manner and cause of death from the Medical Examiner’s office.
