And The "Plans" Change Again!

Postby Jim O'Bryan » Thu Sep 06, 2018 7:32 am

As we have pointed out for years now. The City of Lakewood's "plans" were for a Rec Center. While the city said no, Brian Essi in his ongoing lawsuit with the City of Lakewood for records was finally able to find talk and a copy of the plans. Since then the City has stumbled, bumbled and lied it way through various ideas and "plans." With the outcry and people like Mark Kindt pointing out that "one-lakewood place plans" were nothing but another failed attempt to fill the black hole that exists with the destruction of Lakewood Hospital, the City of Lakewood announces yet ANOTHER PLAN!

Mark Kindt wrote:Same plans, just more "hide-the-ball" from the public.

No, they have added more floors, and went from a purely commercial space with a couple rental units. Look at the drawings.

Not sure it is hide the ball, more like another charade.

We need public discussion to give us time to make the community think they have a say in this.

Closer to Kabuki than child games.

So..
The City closes the Hospital and transfers $70 million in cash and investments to private foundations in exchange for a 750 space parking garage and 200 condos. Except that the City doesn't own the condos or parking garage. What a deal!

Buried in the Master Agreement is the requirement that the City spend $2.5 million for a parking lot. Where is that money coming from?

The City's agreement with the developer anticipates government subsidies for the commercial space. Where is that money coming from?

Do not believe the lie that the development contains "public space". The "public space" will be owned by the developer. The public will only be allowed on the space with the permission of the owner.

Think of the building site for this development then imagine a 750 space parking garage right in the middle of that space.

There is no analytical screen (legal, financial, economic, healthcare, public policy) where this deal makes any sense for Lakewood. It is a complete fiasco.

Buried in the Master Agreement is the requirement that the City spend $2.5 million for a parking lot. Where is that money coming from? The public treasury--taxpayer

It should be noted, these are not my stars or notation but from the person at City Hall that sent me the document.

Also the term "plan" is a misnomer the city has zero plans, hence the scuttling about when secret plans were revealed.

Secrets ill thought out plans they have in abundance.
