This afternoon around two o'clock, the fire department was called to a kitchen fire that had gotten out of control just south of Madison Avenue on Mars.
Arriving at 2019 Mars, Lakewood Fire Department entered the residence and found the house filled with smoke. They also located a man trapped by the fire behind the door, and the crew from Fire Truck 1, rescued him and got him out to safety.
The fire was confined to the Kitchen, which they dealt with promptly and with the rest of the house filled with dense smoke they brought in fans to clear out the house while the resident was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
