Paper #4 Out

Postby Jim O'Bryan » Tue Aug 09, 2005 4:25 pm

Lakewood Observer #4 is out and creating a stir!

Will be available at most businesses on Detroit and Madison by tonight, the library already, City Hall, School Board, and homes over the next day.

Thanks to all that make it possible.

I delivered 600 papers tonight.

Kenneth to Abbieshire between Lake and Edgewater - including Sylvan, Leedale, Maple Cliff, Summit, Rosalie, Lakeland, Erie Cliff.

Belle between Clifton and the track.

I received compliments from five mothers on assorted streets, who each said in pretty much the same words - "I love the paper." One young woman on Belle said "I really love THIS paper."

One woman had already picked up and read her copy from the library.

One man said he likes the paper. Another man said keep up the good work.

Quite a bit of positive feedback tonight.

I'm counting 1,200 Observers personally delivered by Kenneth Warren. I marvel at a profound commitment.

Ken, who had a paper route early in life is a machine. Ken and I are both working an article about delivering papers and what a great feeling you get out of it and how much fun it is.

But first let's not forget Dan Slife - 600 papers, Grace O'Malley and kids, 500 papers, Deb O'Bryan 800 papers, Chuck Greenoff/Steve Davis every business on Detroit and Mdison except for Madison Village and surrounding streets done by Mark and Jill Timieski, Mary Anne Crampton who handles Clifton Park, Sloane, and makes sure the LakewoodAlive events, Suzanne Metleko who handles four streets around her own home, Gordon Brumm who just never stops and was still delivering on Saturday streets that had not gotten them, P. Woods who came in from SanDiego to handle the GoldCoast and Rocky River/West Park/Cleveland, and a bunch of others that help where and when they can.

Any good delivery stories please post so that we can get them in the article.

Thanks to everyone.

Jim O'Bryan

I am now employing (ice cream/homemade cookies) six young Lakewoodites to distribute in their neighborhoods. They love it! I love it! Like Ken the response of neighbors has been "over the top" positive. Many of them are looking for it and if I don't get there fast enough, they head to the corner store.

This has been one of the most profoundly gratifying experiences of my life. Thanks to everyone who is participating!

All right, I'm inspired.

I can commit to cover Cook Avenue north of Detroit--my street. I imagine this is 100 or so papers.

Suzanne:

Tina and I have been doing Daleview and Riverway...how do we arrange to get our ice cream and cookies?

:?: Sounds like there's a need for an EVALUATOR of the cookies and other inducements.

:)
