A Lakewood "Technology Summit" will be held Wednesday, August 10 at the Main Library. For several years, interested persons in the private and public sectors have been saying that Lakewood needs to pool our collective technolgy talent. With the Digital Cities initiative beginning, we cannot procrastinate.
Our initial focus will be on WIFI, including a powerpoint display and discussion of economic advantages/costs and strategies for implementation, i.e., a city-wide wireless network, a WIFI corridor, etc.
Speakers will include George Nemeth, Ken Warren, and/or members of his staff, Mike Fischer of ThinSolutions, and ANYONE who wants to share their expertise, experience or vision.
The WIFI possibilities are just a starting point. We are hoping for a broad discussion of the technology opportunities for our city. By design, this will not be a process dictated by city hall. It may evolve into a strictly private initiative, a local government effort, or a blend of the two.
Please join us and bring your ideas.
