Friends of the Lakewood Dog Park will be hosting the first annual "Lakewood Doggie Dip" to raise money for dog park upkeep and maintenance. This fun event gives your dog a chance to swim and play with other dogs in one of Lakewood's own city pools!

Date: Tuesday, September 6th, 2005
Time: 6-9pm
Place: Foster Pool at Lakewood Park
Cost: $5 for one dog, $8 for two

A lifeguard will be on duty, and owners are asked to bring their own towels.

All proceeds benefit Lakewood's Award-Winning Dog Park!

This is great! They've been doing this in other places and any number of people have asked us when Lakewood was going to try it (since we're dog nuts). This is the type of event that really compounds the layers of enjoyment to Lakewood life.

Wonderful fun!

Will the lifeguard have any additional training in dog resucitation?

Having had a golden, I think this is a great idea. He would have been in doggie heaven. No dogs now, only cats, who wouldn't appreciate it. But I'd love to watch!

Mike Deneen has done a wonderful job as President of Friends of the Lakewood Dog Park. The doggie swim is just one of the more visible things he's done. I applaud him and the other currently active members of the group, such as June and Gordon Brumm, Brittany O'Connor, and Peggy Jensen, for helping make the area's best dog park a great success! :D

xxoo,
Shelly

Shelly

It should be noted that besides being a great firend to the Dog Park, that Mike Deneen is also the "Pets/Animals Editor" of the Lakewood Observer and his handy work can be seen on the current back page.

Also Gordon Brumm brings up the dog park at nearly every meeting.

I appreciate all the kind comments!

To answer Tracy's question, we are planning to have someone on hand that is certified in doggie first aid.

We are always looking for interesting new fundraising ideas for the dog park, so if anyone has some, feel free to post them here or send them to us at our website www.lakewooddogpark.com
