I just read that there was a tragic DUI accident at "DAncing in the Streets" AIDS fundraiser on Clifton on the Lakewood/Cleveland border where one man died and others were injured. Does anyone have any other information on this? It is so unbelievable.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 27-year-old Avon Lake man died today after he was struck Sunday by a car at a street festival in Cleveland.
Mitchell Andelmo died at MetroHealth Medical Center, where he and three other people were taken about 7 p.m. Sunday, after a 35-year-old Lakewood man drove his car through a barricade on Clifton Boulevard near West 117th Street and plowed into the crowd.
The others injured are Cleveland residents Constance Pokorny, 25, and Basil Bass, 44, who were both in critical condition Monday afternoon. Kevin Lett, 37, of Akron, was treated and released.
Timothy Spock, 34, of Beach Parkway, was arrested after he failed sobriety tests and refused to take a breath test. Police confiscated his 2005 Scion XB, which had severe front end and windshield damage, according to the police report. Charges are pending.
The barricade was blocking the street for the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland's annual Dancin' In the Streets festival to raise money for AIDS and HIV awareness. There were numerous off-duty officers working security at the festival.
Spock was immediately arrested, then taken to Lakewood Hospital after police obtained a search warrant to have his blood drawn for an alcohol test, which the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office will perform.
Spock was charged June 9 in Lakewood with disorderly conduct while intoxicated and fined $240. He was convicted there in September 2009 of child endangering while intoxicated and sentenced to a year of probation.

David, Nice shots, I got a couple myself. It was amazing, almost everyone at the Great Lakes Courier knew Mitch, and it hit the biking community hard. Then my wife mentioned she had worked with Mitch years ago, and it showed just how small the world is, and just how fragile, and how lucky we are for every day we are given. All photos are the property of The Great Lakes Courier. Mitch's friends gather. State representative Nickie Antonio addresses the gathering. Friends light the candle for the walk. While friend spoke of memories, "Mitch!, Mitch!, Mitch!, Mitch!" broke out. More photos at: http://www.greatlakescourier.com/deck/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15Love every minute, cherish your friends and family. peace/love .

Sadly, a second person has succumbed to their injuries. It was just reported that 44 year old Basil Bass has died.
All because someone chose to get behind a wheel when they were drunk.

David I wish I had gotten your message earlier-I would have walked up and met you there. It looked like a beautiful tribute.
Grace, one of many times for this murderer.

The recent mass murder in Aurora Colorado and this murder by Timothy Spock raise a troubling question that I have no immediate answer for ----- Did these two individuals act in complete, absolute isolation and consequently these acts could not have been foreseen? But what about this Spock? Did he live alone or were there others around him who might have seen trouble on the horizon? And, if so, what exactly is the responsibility of someone to act? And, what actions?
