As part of the annual Tri-C Jazz Festival, CPL’s MLK Branch will host a workshop for area students presented by world-renowned violinist, Daniel Bernard Roumain. Known simply by his initials (DBR), Haitian-American Roumain is a classically trained composer, violinist and bandleader noted for blended funk, rock, hip-hop and classical music into energetic live performances.

The melodic harmonizing of the Holy Grove Missionary Baptist Church choir will ring through the halls and stairways of the Main Library to pay tribute to African American History Month.

Reading Lolita in Tehran By Azar Nafisi
A true book club's book, this memoir follows a book club made up of seven women and their experiences reading controversial Western literature in Iran. Azar Nafisi , a former professor at the University of Allameh Tabatabei, heads the group, who meets secretly and encourages the women to speak their minds not only about the literature at hand, but also about their experiences in the turbulent country. Through this book club, they began to see some parallels between themselves and the characters and found that reading to be essential to their survival in an oppressive world.
