A Traditional Band Concert

The Al Koran Shrine Band has seen a few line-up changes over the past 103 years. Now under the leadership of Paul Lawrence, this colorful crew promises patriotic music, marches, show tunes and novelty numbers.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 14

MEET THE FANTASY AUTHORS

An Unlikely Journey and An Unlikely Reunion, Books One and Two of Raven’s Heart
by Matthew and Stephanie Verish
Everyone has a story to tell, but this unlikely tale takes two people. Matthew and Stephanie Verish have shared adventures in both writing and self-publishing. Take an illustrated tour of their rich fantasy world, listen to favorite passages read aloud, and ask questions about writing, publishing and fantasy. You might win a free book in the drawing. Books will also be available for sale and signing from the authors themselves.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16

Educator Resources from the Cleveland Museum of Art

Come spend a casual evening with members of the Education Department of The Cleveland Museum of Art. Information on programs for schools such as Art To Go suitcase presentations, Distance Learning videoconferences, and the Educator’s Academy (formerly The Teacher Resource Center) will be shared. There will be handouts, discussions, sample materials for teachers and plenty of opportunity to ask questions and plan for 2008-2009.

Girl on the Bridge (1999-France) Directed by Patrice Leconte Rated R
Starring: Daniel Auteuil, Vanessa Paradis
Filmed in glorious black and white, this is an engaging story of a desperate girl and the professional knife-thrower who saves her. She joins the act, trusting him completely. Their relationship hits a snag, and she leaves. Then it’s he who suffers an emotional crisis. Luminous performances by Auteuil and Paradis. (French with English subtitles.)

LPL'S WEB SITE FOCUS - Teen Connections

Teen Connections is a collaborative community effort of the high school students in Lakewood, Lakewood Hospital, the Lakewood Y and the City of Lakewood's Division of Youth and Health who have joined together to produce this resource guide.
