What is your opinion? Thanks

Quote:
Given his stance on Chick-fil-A, would Mayor Tom Menino grant permits to a group that has counted among its leaders a man who has repeatedly called homosexuality a “crime that must be punished” by death?

Actually, he has done that  . . . and more! Menino effectively gave away city land valued at $1.8 million to the organization, and he gave a speech at its ribbon-cutting ceremony.

It’s the Islamic Society of Boston’s mosque, and when it comes to anti-gay sentiment, one of its early supporters makes Chick-fil-A look like the Provincetown Men’s Chorus.

Guess they should throw out every Roman Catholic church in Boston, too, by that sentiment.

to be honest, if I were the mayor of boston and giving away land, I'd rather have a mosque or church than any new fast food chains.

Muslim anti-homosexuality is like Catholic clergy anti-homosexuality: it is largely a bluff or a feint.

Is it better to dislike muslims or to dislike homosexuals? You can dislike both, but which is worth the most political capital?

Suppose a candidate is running for a nomination or office in a particular district. Most of the voters on this candidate's side of the fence value antipathy towards both muslims and homosexuals. this candidate has done enough to imply adequate antipathy towards both muslims and homosexuals. does antipathy towards muslims get the candidate more points with the constituents, or towards homosexuals?

Mayor Menino has not banned Chic-fil-a and has no power to ban chic-fil-a.

the Islamic Society of Boston has no formal affiliation with al-Qaradawi, other than previously accidently listing him as a "trustee". we all know most trustees of most organizations don't do much of anything. Just the same, Al Qaradawi sounds no worse than Ted Nugent or Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson or Louis Farrakhan. they get invited to shit all the time.

The mosque has used al-Qaradawi to help raise funds, the mosque has a printed brochure that highlighted al-Qaradawi's support for the mosque, they play a videotaped message of his support from a 2002 gathering, and yes his name has appeared on relevant IRS forms. The mayor could certainly make it hard for Chick fil-a to do business in Boston..

Mayor Menino told his friends...
He does not like chick-fil-a

I am sure...that if Yusef al-Qaradawi tried to open a chicken sandwich store in Boston
Mayor Menino would tell his friends he does not like Yusef al-Qaradawi.
