Current Line Up at Winchester Music Hall on Madison Ave.

Postby Melissa Page » Mon Jan 24, 2011 12:07 pm

I get email updates with Winchester's musical line up. LOVE that venue. Close, comfortable, friendly, and the sound is great. Owner, Jim Mileti, oversees the sound for every show. And warm and welcoming Rebecca (Mrs. Mileti) tends the bar.

Dan Reed (of Dan Reed Network) -

Dan plays well written, acoustic pop-rock songs. As lead singer of the "Dan Reed Network," Dan released three albums with Polygram records between 1988 and 1991. Dan had the honor of seeing the world while opening for such bands as David Bowie, Bon Jovi, RUN DMC, UB40, eventually becoming the supporting act for The Rolling Stones' 1991 European tour.

Dan also journeyed to India with Bob Guccione Jr. to interview the Dalai Lama for Spin Magazine. Dan presents a group of songs that mirror this life journey. With songs composed from Hong Kong to New Dehli, Jerusalem to London, he has come full circle to do what he has always done best, create, and most importantly, sing to all who will listen. http://www.danreed.com Don't miss seeing Dan Reed live in a special intimate acoustic show. Tickets are $10.00. Showtime is 9pm.

Joanne Shaw Taylor & Band -

"...I heard something I thought I would never hear... a British White Girl playing blues guitar so deep and passionately it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end!"
- Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics.

"She plays with more attitude and flare than most. Massive potential here. Inspiring."
- Guitarist Magazine.
British singer and blues guitarist Joanne Shaw Taylor was 16 years old when she was discovered by Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics. Stewart was so impressed with Taylor's guitar playing that he invited the youngster to join his supergroup, D.U.P. (Da Univerzal Playaz) on a European tour in 2002.

Playing the hard stuff à la SRV, making you feel the bite of her Telecaster like Albert Collins or working out charming little riffs from the Jimi Hendrix book, Joanne is always seeking (and finding) new terrain. Vocally, she has a strong, husky style, sort of understated, and somewhat reminiscent of Joss Stone with its soulfulness at times.

It's safe to say that Joanne is well on the way to succeeding. Joanne's album "White Sugar" was nominated for Best New Artist Debut album at the 2010 Blues Music Awards. Joanne will be performing on guitar and vocals with her band, a power trio. http://www.joanneshawtaylor.com Acoustic blues singer / songwriter Paul Borger opens the show. Tickets are $12.00. Showtime is 9pm.

The Bruce Katz Band -
Bruce Katz, a three time Blues Music Award nominee for "Piano Player of the Year," is a very well respected keyboardist who has released six CDs as a band leader and appeared on nearly 70 other performer's CDs with the likes of Ronnie Earl, John Hammond, Duke Robillard, Little Milton, Jimmy Witherspoon and many, many others. He also tours regularly as a member of the Gregg Allman Band.

The Bruce Katz Band blurs the lines between blues, soul, jazz, rock and New Orleans-inspired roots music. They combine exciting instrumental jams and vocal tunes with their original, trademark sound, blending the organ and guitar. http://www.brucekatzband.com/ Tickets are $10.00. Showtime is 9pm.
