Parents just got an update in our email re Monday's schedule, it was to have been a day for kids to collect assignments, etc, but no more. Here's the email:

With the increasing number of positive cases of COVID-19 throughout the state emerging over the weekend, we’re exercising an abundance of caution and we have decided to close all our school buildings (including before and aftercare) tomorrow, Monday, March 16, 2020. After monitoring the information from the Ohio Department of Health and the Governor’s Office over the weekend, we feel that it is in the best interest of the health and well-being of our students and staff to not operate a regular school day. All staff is expected to report on March 16 and 17.

Our buildings will be open for students and parents from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17 in order for families to pick up any personal belongings your student may need during the extended closure. Parents of 4th and 5th grade students will be able to sign-out a Chromebook at this time if needed. If you are unable to pick up your student’s belongings during this time, please contact your building principal for an appointment.

If your child has medication on file with the school, a parent/guardian must come to collect it. If you are unable to pick up the medication, please call the school office and we can make delivery arrangements.

Please check our website for updates regarding the extended school closure. https://www.lakewoodcityschools.org/

Thank you!

I'm glad about this as there was a debate raging in our household about this very subject.
