Is The New Clinic Facility In Lakewood Designed To Fail?

The Clinic facilities on Detroit by 117th and on Madison will close and the doctors transferred to the new building on Detroit and Belle. So what have we gained? Nothing?

The new facility will charge a facility fee.

The City will be required to provide parking for the Clinic building. If that parking is ground level all the left over land will be used for parking. If City provided parking is to be in the current garages who will pay for the millions in necessary repairs?

The new facility will be much smaller than the Clinic in Brunswick and will offer very limited services.

The facility will have very few doctors and no specialists.

The new facility will be hemmed in and by impossible to expand.

Look for it to close in a few years. This Clinics proposal is not a plan for health care in Lakewood. It is a temporary fix designed to keep people quiet for the next two years.

This is a real fiasco.

Perhaps you could point out to us how this is known.

Or are we back to you declaring everyday it will fail and close, while some of
us wait for actual time lines and proof?

Just curious.

Are you starting a death watch for the Salon?

Just curious.

Has the Clinic promised to keep the other two Lakewood locations open?

The Clinic will charge a facility fee.
The Clinic expects the City to provide parking.
The new facility WILL be about half the size of the Brunswick facility.
The new facility WILL NOT have specialists.

The new facility is designed to fail.

The Clinic has intends to leave a health care desert in Lakewood.

You have spent the last ten years telling everyone the Clinic would never close the Hospital. Have you not learned anything about how the Clinic operates?

More bullshit clouding the issue.

1) Lakewood is not in a healthcare desert. Most of the professionals I have spoken to
about this really see very little need for a hospital in Lakewood outside of convenience.
The professionals I speak with are consultants that find places for doctors to open
practices and hospitals to move. None are in contracts with the Clinic.

We have three hospital within 12 minutes, and 5 within 17.

Bill, I spent years saying there was no timeline for a The Clinic pulling out. Not that they
were not leaving, hell the entire city knew they were leaving at some point. Had you said
it until 2026 you would have been right also. Personally for me to say they were leaving, I
needed something a little more substantial like them actually planning to leave. Since I
ran my story, no one from the Clinic has lied to me. City Hall, well never mind.

The new facility will not have specialists, it will not be the same as Brusnwick, but why
should it be? We have completely different needs. This is just bullshit fluff to make it
sound serious and we are getting screwed.

The new facility will fail? Even Dr. Cosgrove has no idea what is going into this. And I am
sure someday it will fail. But would love to know what facts you have that it will fail in
your lifetime? And I wish you a long and happy life.

OK fine. The 32,000 people of Brunswick need a first class facility and the 52,000 people of Lakewood don't.

Offered in Brunswick:

Primary Care
Family Medicine
Internal Medicine
Obstetrics / Gynecology
Pediatrics
Specialty Care
Cardiology
General Surgery
Nephrology
Neurology
Nutrition
Orthopaedics
Physical Therapy
• Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation
– Incontinence
– Pelvic pain
• Spine
• Muscle and joint pain
• Sports
Evaluations for golf, running
and figure skating
– Injury rehabilitation
– Performance enhancement
Pulmonary Medicine
Sleep Medicine
Sports Medicine

to be offered in Lakewood:

Family Medicine
Internal Medicine

The people of Brunswick sure have a big need for medical care. Southwest General also has a facility in Brunswick with an emergency room:

2 emergency rooms for a City of 32,000?

If it's all about convenience and convenience doesn't matter then why have any doctors at all in Lakewood? Why not just send everyone to Avon?

Of course we could have made Lakewood Hospital a first class medical institution and told people from Avon to drive to Lakewood.

According to you the Clinic tried desperately to get the City of Lakewood and the Hospital board to agree to that but they just were not interested. Name some names.

No, those are words you are putting in my mouth.

I said the Cleveland Clinic wanted to build Fairview Hospital here in 1995. The city said no.
That would have been the death of Lakewood Hospital, but the Clinic would be here, ever
growing and expanding. I am not convinced that would be that good for the Lakewood we
know either. Mayor Cain put together a way to save Lakewood Hospital, though the contract
is barely worth the paper it was printed on as far as what was spelled out as Hospital.

From that point on EVERYONE KNEW the Clinic would leave in 2026. Because everyone
knew they were building Avon, and soon Fairview was announced.

As I pointed you to you time and time again, the Clinic would be leaving because they
could not expand, they could not own. But they were staying until 2026.

Names, names for what? I have listed the Board, the Foundation who else do you need?
