A Lakewood Observer Roundtable...

Postby Mark Mraz » Tue Aug 24, 2010 12:45 pm

Im new to Lakewood and very new to this forum but I do enjoy reading everything on here. I guess I was just curious if anyone on here ever got together as a group and talked, shared a meal, coffee, etc. Some people on here seem very interesting and want whats best for this community....I really enjoy reading what people write and their opinions.

I was born and raised in Youngstown for 25 years before moving up here...and if anyone knows anything about Youngstown, you may or may not feel sorry for me,lol. Its a world of difference reading this forum and then reading the local newspaper forum from back home.

I think it would be nice to get some people together and just talk, everyone on here seems very enlighening and always has something to say....

Mark-

It would be fantastic to put together a roundtable type discussion. We have done more informal get-togethers with writers, photographers, etc... and would love to get a regular meeting back to re-energize. I really like the roundtable concept.

I'll put it together (and the coffee can be on LO!) if you all tell us what you want to discuss.

What is hot in Lakewood right now?

Topic ideas anyone?

That is exactly what we thought 7 years ago when we created the Observation Deck. A
roundtable where there is a seat for everyone and anyone 24/7/365 all you have to do
to take part is use your real name.

You do not want to take part, then do nothing and you can still read what others are thinking
and doing, and talking about.

24/7 online with nearly a decade of history online, and some of the best minds in the city
taking part. Mayor, planning director, members from the school board, and members from
almost every committee and meeting in the city taking part at no cost, no time constraint,
not word limit.

Just have at.

The only thing better would to also make it accessible in paper, and at various meetings
around the city where ALL are invited.

What could make that better, wait I know, turn the profits over to others, employee some,
and use the information to start needed businesses and civic groups.

Well, welcome to the Observer.

If you do not see it here, just ask, we can work on it.

Welcome, peace.

Mark---- You would not want to meet any of us. Take my word for it. It would just make for a very awkward and disturbing scene.
However, if LO springs for beer----count me in!!!!!!!!

Mark,

Your idea is solid as a rock. Us 'Deckers have actually met to eat, and in some rare cases (chuckle) lift a glass, at several places around town...

Welcome to the rumble. Glad to have you on board.

Mark

I think it is a solid one. A very solid idea.

I was just speaking with one of the many civic leaders in our town. She was wanting to start
facebook, this, and facebook that, and this site and that site.

My simple answer was. How many sites can one person check in a day.

That is one reason we offer, any space a group needs for free. A website for free,
and ecommerce site nearly free, and the ability to move it from one medium to another
to another at very little cost to most other than putting it up and taking ownership of
the thought.

No it was a solid idea, and still is.

Welcome.

Bret

Just last week someone said, "Why is the Observer so right wing." I laughed, oh my friend
we have come a long way on this journey, have we not?
