The Lakewood Board of Education has approved Maggie Niedzwiecki, Brecksville-Broadview Heights School District’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction, as Lakewood City Schools’ next Assistant Superintendent beginning Aug. 1, 2018.

Niedzwiecki, who will be replacing Roxann Ramsey-Caserio, will come to the District with extensive experience with curriculum development and implementation. Prior to joining Brecksville-Broadview Heights in 2015, Niedzwiecki served in the same position for the Revere Local School District for two years. From 2010-2013, she was Director for Race to the Top for the Ohio Department of Education. Race to the Top was a federal Department of Education competitive grant created to spur and reward innovation and reforms in state and local school districts. In her Director role, Niedzwiecki supervised and coordinated implementation of the grant program throughout the state. She began her education career as an elementary teacher for 10 years for the Perry Schools before moving into administration for the district as an Assistant Principal and Principal at the elementary level from 2003-2010.

Niedzwiecki has earned a number of honors during her educational career including the 2015 Educator of the Year Award from John Carroll University and being named a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from John Carroll University, a master’s in Instruction and Curriculum from Cleveland State University. She also has a principal license from John Carroll and a superintendent license from Kent State University.
