LakewoodAlive, with Community Development Block Grant funding support from the City of
Lakewood, announces a program to encourage residents to paint the exterior of their homes in 2011.
The “Paint Lakewood” program offers rebates of up to $1000 on paint and supplies to eligible
homeowners and residents.
“Our goal is to revitalize and improve Lakewood’s neighborhoods and reduce lead hazards by
educating residents on lead safety issues, “ reports LakewoodAlive Housing Outreach Director,
Hilary Schickler. “One spruced up house impacts the property values of the entire street.”
Applicants must:
. Be a resident of Lakewood, Ohio
. Meet the income guidelines.
. Apply & be approved prior to painting (no receipts dated before approval will be accepted)
. Complete painting by October 31, 2011
. Paint entire exterior of home based upon allowable painting surfaces
. Become familiar with safe lead paint practices prior to painting prep work
Information & training provided by LakewoodAlive at the property
. Have property inspected 3 times (these are not city building department inspections):
1. Prior to approval
2. After all prep work completed but before actual painting begins
3. After work is completed
