Opening:
The second meeting of the Lakewood is Art organization was called to order at 7:05 pm on September 4, 2007 in Bela Dubby by Ruth Koenigsmark.

Present:
Ruth Koenigsmark, Chair
Jill Crino, Vice-Chair
Jim O’Bryany, Community Liason
Barbara Michel, Marketing/PR Director
Christine Kazimer
Terry Wintering

Meeting Minutes:
Ruth opened the meeting and advised that Justine Cooper from MAMA would not be joining us as originally planned when the agenda was put together.

Jill Crino reviewed the minutes from the August 28th meeting and called for a vote to approve the minutes as they stood – all members approved.

Barbara Michel reviewed plans for the the PR/Marketing of the MAMA LIA Art Walk event scheduled for Friday, October 5th. (see attachment of handout from Barb). The parameters of the event will run from Lakewood Hardware on the west end of Madison Avenue to the Winchester Bar on the east end. The fall back position for the east end will be Sillouette Dance. Jim advised that LIA is covered for the art walk since it was agreed with MAMA that we would just be handling the artist call. Ruth placed a call to artists announcement on the LO website.

Barb continued the marketing/pr discussion by going through her handout. Jim will be providing brochures and handouts to give to the Madison Avenue business owners. It was decided that LIA members would meet at Bela Dubby on Friday, September 7th at 6pm to walk the span of the proposed art walk and touch base with prospective businesses to encourage participation & sign them up for the event. Ruth, Christine, Jim and Barb all indicated they could make it for this initial get sign up. Barb discussed the audience and target markets to attend the art walk; Jim agreed to contact city government officials to invite them. Barb covered various media we need to get the word out & advertise the event. Jim said city would not allow street banners and Barb suggested vertical banners to be hung on telephone poles. Jim will contact the Scene and Free Times and will also be placing full page ads in the Lakewood Observer to promote the event (Sept 18 & Oct 2nd issues). Signage warning viewers of potential offensive art would be posted only if the exhibit includes such art but will not be rating all the exhibits.

Barb moved on to branding of LIA organization; discussed need for a logo immediately (prior to art walk event); it was agreed that all members would bring logo ideas to our next meeting and vote on best.

Jim updated group on the EC_Trees project; has prototype for the trees and is now working on logistic issues (placement of tubes in trees to hold the essential oils for fragrance). Shooting for installation by the end of September in front of Lakewood Library and would remain for 2 months with possible move to different location after.

Jill updated group on the Barking Dog project; spoke to casting guru and discovered that cost for vacuum cast resin would be $400-$500 per dog plus start up costs; then discussed possibility of doing torch cut steel sillouettes instead. Cost would be $100 or less per dog for 50-100 qty based on 2’ x 4’ piece, 3/16â€Â
