It seems like we have talked about various signs around Lakewood so why not organize them?

Signs Signs Everywhere Signs

And the sign said long haired freaky people need not apply
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said you look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you'll do
So I took off my hat I said imagine that, huh, me working for you

woah!
Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign

And the sign said anybody caught trespassing would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and yelled at the house, Hey! what gives you the right
To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in
If God was here, he'd tell you to your face, man you're some kinda sinner

Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign

Now, hey you Mister! can't you read, you got to have a shirt and tie to get a seat
You can't even watch, no you can't eat, you ain't suppose to be here
Sign said you got to have a membership card to get inside Uh!

And the sign said everybody welcome, come in, kneel down and pray
But when they passed around the plate at the end of it all,
I didn't have a penny to pay, so I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said thank you Lord for thinking about me, I'm alive and doing fine

Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign
Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign

Best line from that song. Good song too.

It is funny now that I look at that Lake Erie circle tour sign up close i see what it is. HAHAH whizzing past it at 35mph I always thought it was a submarine!!
To be fair a submarine (while it makes no sense) might look better. ;-)

Tooo funny about the circle tour sign.

The first time I read the post about the submarine, I was like...duh, it's an airplane. (which makes just as much sense  ) Nice to know what it really is...

Learn somethin' new everyday. :P

That circle tour bugs me. We always wanted to take it - I assumed it goes all the way around Lake Erie. But they stop putting up signs. So the tour is not well marked.

I think we have been around the lake - but no help from these signs.

Okay, my other pet peeve, the sign to not feed the wildlife. I know most of you will disagree. But my happiest memories from my childhood are feeding ducks and seagulls. I think my children's are too. I guess that is sometimes my act of civil disobedience. Whoo hoo - I'm a real radical.

Anyway Jim, I love the song.

Lynn

As you well know, my life is a song, well many songs, and this is certainly one of them.

I agree on all points. Last year I had the pleasure of walking Slovic Village at 1 am with my good friends Steve Davis, and Kenneth Warren. We had heard and seen "just how bad it was." This second trip with them found people playing basketball at 1am in a public park. The park they were playing in was well kept, clean, and still lit. To be honest it was a little surreal, but it had really good vibes.

There is a new initiative to allow dog owners to go into public
parks with their dogs on the leash. If you do not own a dog, it might be
hard to understand. But there is nothing better in my world that a boy
with his dog in a park. It is why God made all three.

I've posted on a discussion before about dogs in parks... for what it's worth, I believe you could find enough vets/groomers/trainers/etc. that would buy poop bag dispensers for the parks on which they could put a little ad for their services.

I've never been clear on what the actual objection is to leashed dogs in the parks, but I'm sure it revolves to a certain extent around feces.

You just have to put the vodka in the lemonade before you get there :)

Jim

With the sign would it seem to be a problem that Bay Village Only residents
have with alcohol. From what I am told is - two sisters left the entire
park to the city of Bay Village with the provisions that no alcohol is
consumed in the park, or served in public establishments in Bay Village
on Sundays.

The Bay Village only sign was added by the Bay Village Welcome Committee.
I could be wrong about that.

Charlie

My god man.

If you have to...

Scotch in a glass with three cubes.

First offense is probably a warning.

"Welcome to Bay Village...now go home"

Maybe that's how they keep the entire west side of Cleveland from attending their fireworks
