Hospice of the Western Reserve Volunteer Training Series

Are you looking for a way to help individuals in your community? We serve palliative and hospice care patients and families wherever they call home and have a wide range of volunteer opportunities to fit your talents, interests, and schedule. There are many virtual and face-to-face opportunities available at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, the Medina Inpatient Unit and Life’s Treasures Thrift Shop in Medina, and the David Simpson Hospice House and our Headquarters office in Cleveland. We usually hold two virtual training series each month. Upcoming training sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays & Thursdays — October 4, 6, 11, and 13 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm and Saturdays — October 22 and 29 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. Registration for a specific series is contingent on meeting pre-registration requirements which include completing an application, criminal background check, and pre-screening interview. Doan Brook Watershed Partnership Family Fishing Workshops

Join Doan Brook Watershed Partnership and Cleveland Metroparks Youth Outdoors for fun, family-friendly fishing. We’ll cover the basics from tackle and technique to casting, fish ID, and handling. We’ll even show you how to clean and prepare your catch. After learning the basics, everyone can test their luck fishing for stocked trout in the beautiful Rockefeller Lagoon. Bring your own rod and reel or borrow one of ours. Bait will be provided.

Lakewood Community Challenge
6:00 PM
Lakewood Community, come watch our Community Team featuring; Mayor George and Superintendent Niedzwiecki take on our High School Staff featuring; Principal Morgan, AD Coach Slone, Coach Cammock, and Coach Thome in a basketball game. Game 2 will be combine our Elementary schools featuring principals; Budzar, Fortuna and Leddy take on the Combined Middle Schools featuring; Ms. Knapp, Mr. Holmes, Mr. Branco, and Mr. Kocur. There will be a community Showcase of the high school in the cafeteria and all the money goes to Prom!
