Managing Grief and the Holidays

Presented by Patrick Gibbons, this presentation will discuss current research on grief and review recommendations for celebrating the holidays while dealing with feelings of sadness and loss. It will include a discussion of the role of “ritual” in the healing process and recommend some resources for helping us deal with our grief. Patrick has been a Spiritual Care Coordinator for Hospice of the Western Reserve for 14 years. Come early for breakfast snacks – program begins promptly at 9:30. Cost: $20. Good Company Hosts Choral Master Class with Composer Joan Szymko

Good Company: A Vocal Ensemble is hosting a free Choral Master Class led by acclaimed composer, Joan Szymko. Everyone is welcome to attend this free and open workshop focusing on diction, communicating the impact of text and honoring rhythmic accuracy. Joan Szymko’s catalogue of over 100 choral works includes bold and empowering pieces that have made her a favorite of audiences and singers here and abroad. This event is part of Good Company’s Weekend with Ms. Szymko including a free concert featuring her works on November 10 at 4 p.m., also at Lakewood Presbyterian Church.
