DanceWorks Week #4: Elu Dance Company and Across The Board

Double Bill! A tribute to refugees around the world, Elu Dance Company's "Caught" is movement prose in search of light inside incomprehensible darkness. Across The Board presents "Black Don't Crack," an intimate conversation through dance about the pride, pressure and presumption associated with race and cultural aesthetics.

DanceWorks is an annual series that showcases Northeast Ohio's contemporary dance companies as they premiere new work and revive celebrated performances.

Red Ash Mosaic

RED ASH MOSAIC is an experiment in theatrical form, with interwoven and contradictory narrative threads, powerful physical action, chanting and poetic texts – designed not to show, but to invoke; not a presentation, but a transmission. Beginning in the daily doldrums of a video game store, RED ASH MOSAIC erupts into a fracturing of realities and parallel lives launching into an otherworldly land of dreams, spirits and the awakening of one man as he confronts his own death/life. WORLD PREMIERE.

Lakewood Democratic Club meeting: Refugee Resettlement Challenges and How to Help Locally
7:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Lakewood resident Kerissa MacKay is a local program coordinator for the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI). MacKay will address the Lakewood Democratic Club about her work, refugees’ lives, and ways that all of us can help.

Doors open at 7; formal program begins at 7:30.
