Walk to Remember 2016

Registration is now open for Hospice of the Western Reserve's 2016 Walk to Remember, sponsored by FirstMerit Bank.Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist Leon Bibb of WEWS-TV, Channel 5 is this year’s Master of Ceremonies.

Admission includes a full day at the Zoo and Rainforest, T-shirts, entertainment and much more.More than 3,000 participants are expected to honor the memory of their loved ones while raising funds for services provided by the nonprofit agency that are not fully covered by Medicare and private insurance.These include pediatric hospice and palliative care, patient “day to remember” life enrichment experiences, art and music therapy, grief and trauma support in local schools and much more.

2nd Annual Birdtown Church Walk
12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
On Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 12:00-5:00 PM four churches located in the historic Birdtown neighborhood of Lakewood will sponsor the Second Annual Birdtown Church Walk offering tours free of charge.

The churches included on the walk are Grace Lutheran Church, St. Nicholas Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and Ss. Cyril and Methodius Church, home to Transfiguration Catholic Parish.

All are encouraged to spend a Sunday afternoon on June 12th walking the Birdtown neighborhood and learning some of the history, beliefs, customs, and culture of these churches.

Neighborhood merchants will be open the afternoon of the walk and some will be offering discounts or promotions for all participants. The afternoon of the walk, the Museum of Divine Statues at 12911 Madison Ave. will be offering a 50% discount resulting in an admission cost of $5.
