Time Canvas: Improvisation

Time Canvas, a young ensemble of emerging classical musicians who perform a signature blend of early music, new music, and improvisation, are entering their second season of concerts throughout Northeast Ohio. “One of our goals as an ensemble is to present music to people from all walks of life” says violinist Chiara Stauffer. “Our unusual instrumentation - violin, cello, and guitar - lends itself well to performing both contemporary classical compositions as well as music from the baroque. We include improvisation, which is inspired by the sounds we hear everyday, to make our concerts accessible to people who may not listen to a lot of classical music.” Their first concerts of the 2015-16 season demonstrated this broad reach; audiences included both seasoned concert goers and people experiencing classical music for the first time.
Time Canvas is currently preparing for their next weekend of concerts, February 26-28. The program will highlight improvisation, in addition to both baroque and contemporary solo works.
