Instrumental Evening for the Earth
Earth Day Coalition proudly presents the 12th Annual Instrumental Evening for the Earth. The black-tie optional fundraiser takes place on Friday, November 13, 2009 from 6:00 – 9:30 pm at the Westshore Unitarian Universalist Church in Rocky River.

World-Class Chamber Music: Daniel McKelway and Lembi Veskimets of the world-famous Cleveland Orchestra will be joined by additional orchestra members and friends for an intimate candle-lit concert.

Local and Organic Reception: Prior to the performance, guests will be treated to a gourmet assortment of hors d'oeuvres, desserts, coffee, wine and micro-brewed beer from area restaurants highlighting local, sustainable and organic foods. Confirmed catering sponsors include:
• Blue Point Grill
• Crop Bistro • Don's Lighthouse
• Green Planet Catering
• Great Lakes Brewing Company
• Gypsy Bean
• Sweet Melissa's
• Tartine Bistro
• Three Birds
• Whole Foods Markets.

Green Silent Auction: Bid on hundreds of unique auction items, services, vacations, and works of art from eco-conscious businesses, artists, and organizations.

Challenge Grant: The auction and reception will be followed by the Great Lakes Brewing Company Challenge. Funds raised during this exhilarating 15 minutes will be matched dollar-for-dollar by event sponsors. Current Challenge sponsors include Great Lakes Brewing Co. and North East Ohio Regional Sewer District.

Our Ecological Commitment: Earth Day Coalition is working very hard to make the evening’s celebration as people- and planet-friendly as possible. This year, we will again have a comprehensive recycling plan led by students at Garrett Morgan High School (only 2 small bags of unrecycled garbage were generated by over 350 guests at last year’s event!). Other elements of our commitment include the use of fully-compostable plates, cups, and other dinner-ware, the serving of wine from the world's only 100% solar-powered vineyard, and all power consumed during the event will be offset with wind energy credits.

Community Partners and Hosts include: WCLV 104.9 Classical FM. Balanced Living Magazine, Cleveland Scene, EcoWatch Journal, and The Cleveland Orchestra.
This year’s event will be hosted by Bill O'Connell of WCLV 104.9 FM Radio, Rebecca Reynolds of Green Clean and Planet Green, and local artist and interactive media expert Ann Marie Bergman.

Seating is Limited: Walk-ins are welcome. Tickets are $75 per person. Register online at earthdaycoalition.org or call 216.281.6468.

If you would like to become a Challenge Grant Sponsor, join the Benefit Team, or Volunteer: Please contact Nick Swetye at 216.281.6468 x 231.
