Cleveland Reads new tutor orientation
Give the Gift of Reading. Tutor Today!
Did you know that only one out of every five elementary-aged children is read to in the home?
Cleveland Reads is seeking volunteer tutors to work with children or adults. A free, three-hour training is provided to teach techniques and skills necessary for tutoring. You will then be referred to one of 100 literacy programs in Cuyahoga County that need your help.
Building Literacy Skills in Children will be held Thursday April 10th from 5:30-8:30pm. Contact Volunteer Coordinator Jennifer Frigolette at 216-436-2116 or jfrigolette@uws.org to register for this free training or get more information.

Two Generations of Youth Activism
Join two generations of activists — Mary Beth Tinker and Jonathan Lykes — for a discussion of the importance of young people’s involvement in our democracy. In the 1969 case Tinker v. Des Moines, Tinker fought a school suspension all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court after wearing a black armband to school in protest of the Vietnam War. Lykes is a current student at Shaw High School and founder of Youth Voices for Justice, a statewide organization that promotes student political activism.
Free and open to the public.
RSVP to contact@acluohio.org or (216)472-2220.
