F.A.T. City Learning Disability Workshop

We will show the groundbreaking video that put parents, teachers, and guidance counselors in a classroom where they experienced learning as a learning disabled student. Richard Lavoie, a nationally known special education expert, is the video host, demonstrating the Frustration, Anger, and Tension that is typical for a student with a learning disability.

Discussion will precede and follow the 70-minute video. Participants will come away from the workshop with techniques to alter the way they interact with students with learning differences.

Target Audience: Volunteers that tutor youth or adults, program staff, parents, instructors and teachers

Yoga for Kids with Erin Esposito-Peron

Saturday Afternoon from 2:30-3:30 PM
Yoga for Kids introduces children to the basics of traditional yoga movements, promoting healthy lifestyles and body awareness in fun and active ways. Through games, stories, art and music, we explore the non-competitive creativity of yoga and cultivate self-discovery, spatial awareness, breath control, community and compassion. Ages 6-12.

Kayak Open Roll
Lakewood High School pool will be open for kayakers to bring their own kayaks and practice rolls and other techniques. All participants must wear a helmet. All children under the age of 18 must be supervised by a paying adult at all times. All boats must be clean and metal rudders must be removed. Kayaks are to be brought in through the pool's back emergency exit.
Cost is $6 per person, payable at the pool.

Mommy/Daddy & Me Yoga Workshop for Toddlers
This class is for ages 2-5 years old. Erin Esposito -Peron is an experienced yoga instructor who has been teaching yoga to children in Cleveland for the past six years. Children with parents will play yoga games, listen to music, learn yoga animal poses and breathing in fun and creative ways. Cost is $15.00 pre-registered, $20.00 at the door.

Mud In Yer Eye Contra Dance
Live music by the string band Mud In Yer Eye. All dances taught and called by Carol Kopp. No experience or partner required. Cost is $6. A free lesson for beginners is available at 7 p.m.

Contra dancing is a type of traditional American community dance. It comes from English Country Dance and the music is mostly traditional Irish, English, and Scottish jigs and reels. Couples and singles, and dancers of all ages are welcome. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
